Experience one of the world’s most breathtaking coastal drives. The journey along the Great Ocean Road features huge cliffs, raging surf, tranquil bays, lush rainforests, towering rock stacks and fascinating wildlife.
One hours ride past Apollo Bay, after travelling through the magnificent Ottway National Park brings us to the 12 Apostles - one of the world's greatest tourist attractions.
The Twelve Apostles are the remnants from constant erosion of the limestone cliffs of the mainland that began 10–20 million years ago. The stormy Southern Ocean and blasting winds gradually eroded the softer limestone, forming caves in the cliffs. The caves eventually became arches and when they collapsed rock stacks up to 45 metres high were left isolated from the shore.
From Melbourne we travel down the coast, stopping at Torquay for coffee and then Apollo Bay for lunch. We arrive at the 12 Apostles by 2pm and take the tourist walk spending about 30 mins experiencing this spectacle.
Duration 12hrs Departure 8.30am from the city returns by approx 7pm
