Take a look at this photo. The bike on the left is fitted with a sidecar - what we call a "Sidecar" can move up to three people - one behind the rider and two seated side by side in the sidecar. Note - the two people in the sidcar are sitting up higher than normal for photographic reasons.
The bike on the right is a Solo - one person sits behind the rider on a single bike.
Our customers often get confused about which option to choose. Here are the answers to the questions we get asked (frequently!):
Sidecars are like open top sports cars. They lack the real feeling you get leaning into corners.
Sidecars are not safer than Solos. There is no safety difference. Sidecars are actually wider than most family cars and are more difficult to manouvre in traffic compared to Solo bikes.
Sidecars are for young children or people with physical disabilities. Young children - say those less than 10 years of age are attracted to sidecars. Old people who have balance problems or who need to walk with assistance may find it more comfortable to sit in a sidecar.
Sidecars are a way to reduce the cost of a ride for 3 people. It costs less to go in one sidecar comapred to 3 Solo bikes. If you want to save money - then choose a sidecar.
The Sidecar can seat two large adults. Yes, there is a lot of room in our sidecars. Each is designed to seat two adults in comfort or one adult with two small children.
It is impossible to fall off a Solo bike. Yes, believe it or not the physically involved means that you can't fall off a Solo bike while it is in motion! Gravity and centrifugal force are what keeps you from falling - think about it!
Our Recommendation? Thebest experience is always on the back of a Solo bike. 99% of all our customers have never sat on the back of a motorcycle before. It will be a new experience. It will not be anything like you expect it to be. Don't assume that your friend would prefer a sidecar - if they have never been near a motorcycle before - it will make very little or no differernce at all!
We hope that this explanation will help you decide which option is best for your occassion.
